The Pedestal – Sisters Against Violence and Control

A WOMAN’S BODY BELONGS TO HER

A group of strong female volunteers from Sisters Against Violence and Control took over a teenage girl’s bedroom, built inside a studio in Odense, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere on this December Saturday. But behind the laughter and jokes lies a much more serious story.

In the weeks leading up to the shoot, director Jesper Quistgaard had spoken with several women from the organisation about the sometimes shocking forms of social control they had experienced when they were younger. With support from Sisters Against Violence and Control, they managed to escape this physical and psychological prison — and today, they help other women and girls facing similar situations.

Jesper’s creative concept, The Pedestal, uses metaphorical imagery to bring the women’s stories of guilt and shame to life in a powerful educational film created for Uge Sex 2025, focusing on the wellbeing and struggles of young people.

Film production in Odense at its very best.
