The Referee

Soccer therapy

So... Quick resume?

The Referee brings you to the field of regret, grudges, and goals in general – but naturally on the playing field too. It’s the story of an unlikely pair learning to live through the hardship that’s usually life and faking it for the grand finale.

You know that guy

The grumpy old man, right? You know that guy. Lives alone. Doesn’t really seem to have any friends, maybe besides one. He has one hobby, and that is the most important thing in the entire universe. He seems somewhat content with life but still hisses at everyone getting to close. You know that guy. In this film, the hobby is being a referee at an amateur football league in the small town he grew up in and never left.

And this guy

The alcoholic, no-good dad, right? You know that guy too. He leaves his young daughter alone at night because he’s getting drunk at some stupid place with some stupid friends.

And then what?

What happens when the guys you know get to know each other? And that sweet daughter of the alcoholic no-good dad needs to find a safe place that obviously can’t be with her father? Maybe she helps out the grumpy old man with realizing what life sometimes can be. Maybe he confronts the alcoholic, no-good dad. Maybe somebody sort of robs a candy store.
